It was a hot issue when Lim Guan Eng, the Minister of Finance, issued a statement on the ban on the use of outside loudspeakers at mosques for azan (call to prayers).
Now, it become an issue again when people start questioning the actions of Lim Guan Eng who stop giving his speech middle way when he hears the call of azan during a recent media conference.
Regarding the ban on the use of the speaker, Lim Guan Eng has testified that he never issued that kind of statement.
So it is not surprising that he shows respect for the calling for prayers or azan until he willingly stopped his speech and continued after azan. Although Lim Guan Eng is not a Muslim, he has shown a good example to us. This shows that even though we are different religions and race, respect for other religions is very important in maintaining peace and harmony in Malaysia. Regardless of religion, we should respect and not insult one another because we stand on the same ground.
